Landing ring is a part of outer tube assembly. It sits in the upper-end of the outer tube and is retained by the adapter coupling. When the inner tube assembly puts into the drill rod, the landing shoulder of the Head Assembly impacts the landing ring setting the inner tube assembly into right position.

Landing rings are made of high-quality alloy steel that is specially heat treated for improved impact toughness and durability.
